Anyway, that’s me. If you’re new, stick around Anyway, that’s me. If you’re new, stick around 🤍
Nothing humbles you like a fireman's carry in fron Nothing humbles you like a fireman's carry in front of your kid's teacher.

People hear “no village” and picture the big stuff. The emergencies, the childcare. But it’s smaller and more constant than that. It’s never getting to be just one person doing one thing. It’s most appointments, meetings, and quick five-minute job done with two small people attached to me.

I’m not unsupported at home, I want to be clear on that. But support at home and a village are two different things, and the weekday middle of it still lands on me.

And yes, they’re in school and preschool now, so someone always asks doesn’t that solve it. It doesn’t, because school was never the village. School can’t do the pickup when I’m stuck or be the house I turn up at on a bad day. The village is everything that falls outside those hours, and that’s a big chunk of life.

Most days we just get on with it, because what else is there to do. But every so often it hits me how relentless it is, and I know I’m not the only one feeling that.

Send this to someone who gets it 🤍
